Dézaley Rouge Grand Cru
In the vineyard
On this steep slope which allows the sun to light the stump up to its base without fear of the shadow of its neighbors, a multitude of walls have been built which refract light and also store heat. Add to that the reverberation of the sun by the lake and you get a micro-climate, a natural oven suitable for roasting the grapes! But the quality of this vintage is not made only by day under a scorching sun. At night, an element of the local climate comes into play: the north wind of Dézaley. A cold, dry, biting wind blowing in a jerky manner, it cools the heat of the plant which slows down its maturation process. Thus the grape keeps all its aroma which gains in complexity during a prolonged maturation. This contrasting climate gives the wine its whole breed and its burnt, smoky, almond, honey and caramel characters framing subtle aromas of flowers and fruits.
The summer of 2015 was generous, especially through exceptional sunshine and temperatures often exceeding tropical standards. The vine particularly appreciates these conditions. The result is there: the grapes from these harvests present an exemplary quality in every way. Small wine yields are guarantees of quality; the 2015 vintage confirms this. Indeed, the grape clusters remained small, in general, precisely because of a summer marked by persistent drought. On the other hand, the positive effect of this situation is a high concentration of sugars, acidity and aromatic compounds.
In the cellar
Marriage between the fine and elegant Gamaret and the powerful but no less fruity Diolinoir, our Dézaley Rouge is cut to join the club of great wines for aging. Vinified and matured for a long time in contact with the oak - thus making it possible to channel all the energies from its blending - it is intended to accompany the best gastronomic moments. Revealing both powerful and rich in aromas, it nevertheless has an elegant and very sensual soul. It is the only red wine in our collection that has not been filtered.
